The Transmission Is Coming: An Interactive NFT Mystery Game On Tezos

The Transmission

The Transmission is a fully developed NFT mystery game that unravels on the Tezos blockchain. Only owners of Resident NFTs can play the game and find the truth behind a mysterious transmission that comes from an area called “Zone 4”.

Strange things are happening in Valley Falls. The Falls Mall has been suffering from power outages. A number of residents have gone missing, only to return again with significant memory loss.

There have been repeated signal failures on the railway. Residents are complaining of interference on their phone lines….

The game fully evolves around NFTs. 666 residents take part all of which are distributed through a presale. All residents have a set of traits that will affect them during events. All 666 are uniquely generated, but there are three levels of rarity.

600 are standard but have unique traits, 60 are skilled and are badass in one particular trait, and 6 are ultra rare and are named characters which are central to the story. The ultra rare characters directly influence how the story unfolds.

The outcome of an event may differ slightly for each resident based on their traits. Outcomes will become more noticeably different in part 2, where infected residents and items will be introduced.

For example, the number of residents that turn up might change the outcome – there may be a flood at the mall and the fire service have asked for help to clear up.

If over 30 residents turn up, the event will be a success, and residents may be given a reward. However, unexpected things can always happen in Valley Falls and events may not go as planned!

Presale

All 666 ultra rare, skilled and standard resident NFTs can be purchased at a presale, they will cost 15 XTZ and will be randomly assigned.

Skilled residents have one particular trait that is really high, so they will have an advantage at certain events, or have a higher chance of getting more valuable collectables at giveaways.

The ultra rare characters are central to the Transmission, and can directly influence how the story unfolds.

Gameplay

About two weeks after the presale, the game begins, residents will be sent a number of tokens which are used to play the game. These tokens can be used in the game to perform actions, upgrade residents and buy collectibles.

All residents will be sent enough tokens to complete the game, however some residents will be sent more tokens than others, based on their traits. Tokens will be able to be traded with other residents, but there is no requirement to do so.

There are a number of locations around Valley Falls, which have a wallet address and will also have info broadcast via the website (and discord). To move to a location, players send a token to the location wallet.

Locations are split into different types. Giveaway, event and burn (the quarry).

– Giveaway locations will send collectables to wallets of residents at that location at giveaway times.

– Event locations will have storyline events that unfold throughout the game.

– The burn location is used to remove unwanted tokens from the game.

Giveaway locations will pop up first. Here residents can receive special items such as collectibles.

Next, strange events will start to occur at locations in Valley Falls. These events will be broadcast a few days in advance (some will be at shorter notice), and will generally have a set deadline for players to take part.

There will be an official event calendar/ feed so players can see upcoming events. In order to take part, the player must send a token to that location before the deadline.

Outcomes of an event may be determined by a number of factors such as how many residents turn up or the skill (level) that they have.

At a certain point in the story, some tokens will start to become affected by the transmission and become corrupted. Holding corrupted tokens will cause residents to become infected.

Infected residents will be informed of secret events by the transmission. But staying infected for too long will eventually cause residents to turn up missing. Choices will need to be made….

Goal Of The Game

From the diary of Ted Barnes:

“Picking up some unusual signals. Freq. 7.638Mhz. Duration 23 seconds. Antenna reported signal direction of due west, passing straight through Zone 4. Drive out tomorrow to Spring Wood Lake. Attempt triangulation to confirm Zone 4 is the source”.

This is a mystery game, so there is obviously a mystery that players can solve. Zone 4 is a secret location that nobody knows how to get into.

Ted already suspects that the transmission is coming from zone 4, so it would be a good idea for residents to try and get in there to check out what’s going on.

Residents that solve the mystery will receive a winners token.
