The Tezos-Based Voting Application ‘NeuillyVote’ Scales Up and Is Used For The 2022-2024 Municipal Youth Council Elections

NeuillyVote Used In The Municipal Youth Council Elections

Last year it was announced that French city Neuilly-sur-Seine launched NeuillyVote, an anonymous and secure electronic voting solution built on the Tezos blockchain.

The first voting event took place in October last year and was intended to be low-risk and small-scale.

It enabled residents to vote online for the books they want to find in the Media Library.

The voting processes were well monitored and analyzed for further development to be able to scale up.

Next up are the 2022-2024 Municipal Youth Council elections

Since 2008, the Municipal Youth Council has enabled young Neuilléans in the 4th and 5th grade to get involved in politics in their town.

During their 2-year mandate, the elected officials meet in plenary assemblies with the Mayor, but also by thematic commissions with the Deputy Mayor who is in charge of the activities of the CMJ.

They can present their ideas, implement projects close to their hearts, take part in City events and become the privileged representatives of their peers.

From November 21 to 25 all middle school students, from the 3rd to the 6th year, can vote for the 4th and 5th year candidates of their college.

The results of the election will be communicated on Tuesday, November 29 on the City’s website.

This is the first Municipal Youth Council elections in France that are organized online.

It will pave the way for future democratic life which will inevitably make use of digital voting applications like NeuillyVote.

No manual counting of paper ballots, which requires enormous confidence in human behavior.

Digital voting applications that are based on public decentralized blockchain allow trustless voting solutions like NeuillyVote to be deployed.

Neuilly-sur-Seine is a commune in the department of Hauts-de-Seine in France, located in the inner suburbs of Paris.

Neuilly-sur-Seine was recently named the most expensive place to buy a property in France, possibly in part due to its location just one mile outside the La Défense business district, which is the largest economical center in Europe.

Electis

NeuillyVote is made by Electis, a voting solution built on the Tezos blockchain.

Electis is building quite a reputable track record so far. Electis is used by three organizations of the United Nations.

The Association of Cryptocurrency Enterprises and Start-ups, Singapore (ACCESS) used Electis to elect their new board members at the 2022 Annual General Meeting.

A trail is being held in Switzerland, where Electis is used to introduce the Swiss voting system to new Swiss residents.

The Electis application has been successfully tested by 80 leading global universities.

“The adoption of Electis.app by students from more than 80 leading global universities confirms that the Electis.app e-voting solution meets the requirements of trust and usability for local governments, organizations, and nonprofits across the globe.

Electis.app is powered by the Tezos blockchain and open-source SDK ElectionGuard.

The results of e-voting elections on the Electis.app are, for the first time, immutably recorded through a smart-contract on the Tezos blockchain, a decentralized, public blockchain that evolves by upgrading itself through on-chain governance, adding a further level of transparency and security to e-voting systems.”
