Foodmasku Joins Web3 Artists At Fifth Annual CADAF Putting Tezos Artwork On Display During 3-Day Event Along 5th Ave

Foodmasku

Antonius Oki Wiriadjaja, 39, is a multimedia artist based in New York City, New York.  He is also known as Foodmasku, which is a dual-language pun;  In Bahasa Indonesia and Javanese, Food – mas – ku can also mean “Food of my brother.”

Foodmasku is an artist who makes masks from his meals and then eats them.

He is a  former Fulbright U.S. Scholar in Indonesia and also a survivor of a shooting in his neighborhood in New York City which inspired his advocacy for gun violence prevention.

He created the Instagram account Foodmasku in April 2020, during a video meeting when a colleague couldn’t turn off a pickle face filter. He took his dinner and placed it on his face as a mask.

He heard laughter for the first time in a month. The project turned into a daily food face-mask selfie and was selected by The New York Times as one of “five art accounts to follow on Instagram now”. He has been minting his work as non-fungible tokens since March 2021.

In numbers, he has created 2,541 NFTs, worn 5,000,000 calories  and raised over $15,000 for charity.

“I like to walk around my neighborhood, which has a lot of outdoor grocers, and if a food item looks like it would be fun to mask, I try it on there. My neighbors know me by now and are used to it.” – Foodmasku

Foodmasku X CADAF

In celebration of the fifth annual Contemporary And Digital Art Fair, iconic artist Foodmasku joined members of the web3 community, artists and collectors during a three-day event along 5th avenue.

“Raw Dog,” “Radicchio and Endives Mask,” “Croissants Mask,” and “Fake Shrimp Mask with Lambic” were featured among digital and web3 artists from around the world curated by Elena Zavelev and Andrea Steuer Nov. 11-13 at Web3 NYC Gallery, 510 Fifth Avenue.

Three of the pieces, “Radicchio and Endives Mask,” “Croissants Mask,” and “Fake Shrimp Mask with Lambic,” were minted on Objkt, the largest NFT marketplace on Tezos, and previously included in an exhibition at SXSW in 2021.

“Raw Dog,” minted on the Ethereum art market SuperRare, was created for Pride Month and was included in the exhibition ICONS x SuperTrans  at SuperRare Gallery in June. The piece explores the nature of identity, queer culture and food through multimedia art.
